The Grand Ole Opry_®, joined Women Rock For The Cure™ in the fight against breast cancer tonight with its third annual“Opry Goes Pink” show. ABC’s Good Morning America co-anchor Robin Roberts, herself a breast cancer survivor, was on hand as a special guest announcer and introduced the Women Rock For The Cure™ Honorary Survivor of the Year Yolanda Smith. Opry member Martina McBride flipped the switch, turning the Opry’s signature barn backdrop “pink” in support of breast cancer awareness. McBride’s current single, “I’m Gonna Love You Through It,” offers hope to those affected by cancer, and the powerful song is included on her Republic Nashville album, Eleven, released Oct. 11. Kellie Pickler turned the barn “pink” in the Opry’s second show of the evening. Additional performers tonight included Lauren Alaina, Edens Edge, Ronnie Milsap and more.

The Grand Ole Opry_®, joining Women Rock For The Cure™ in the fight against breast cancer this Sat., Oct. 22 with its third annual “Opry Goes Pink” show, is getting some help from one of America’s favorite morning news program personalities. ABC’s Good Morning America co-anchor Robin Roberts, herself a breast cancer survivor, will be on hand as a special guest announcer for a portion of the night’s first show, introducing acts as well as the Women Rock For The Cure™ Honorary Survivor of the Year Yolanda Smith. Opry member Martina McBride will take the stage to “flip the switch,” turning the Opry’s signature barn backdrop pink in support of breast cancer awareness. McBride’s current single, “I’m Gonna Love Y ou Through It,” offers hope to those affected by cancer, and the powerful song is included on her Republic Nashville album, Eleven, released Oct. 11.

As of today, $5 from every ticket sold to the night’s second show (9:30 p.m.) will ALSO be donated to Women Rock For The Cure™. That show is scheduled to include performances from Lauren Alaina, Edens Edge, Kellie Pickler, Ronnie Milsap, and more as well as activities recognizing breast cancer survivors and the continuing fight against the disease. Robin Roberts is co-anchor of the Emmy Award-winning morning news program, “Good Morning America.” When not traveling around the world covering breaking news events, Roberts is at “GMA’s” studio in Times Square conducting interviews with a diverse group of newsmakers including President Barack Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, actor Sidney Poitier, basketball legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar on his battle with leukemia, Lisa Niemi on the loss of her beloved husband, Patrick Swayze, among others. Fuchsia-Themed Fundraiser To Benefit Breast Cancer Initiatives

Nashville, Tennessee (July 27, 2011) – Women Rock For The CureTM (WRFTC) will turn up the pink downtown during the 3rd Annual Pink Trash Ball, set for on Saturday, August 20, 2011. Helping to ease the transition from summer to fall, the hot pink-themed event will serve as a fundraiser for – and bring awareness to – breast cancer initiatives. Aerial (411 Broadway, Nashville, TN) will host this year’s celebration from 7:30pm – 11:30pm, featuring a DJ spinning music favorites from all decades, a complimentary array of light appetizers and, of course, the delicious signature WRFTC pink cocktails. WRFTC Hopes To Connect Young Women Surviving & Fighting Breast Cancer
Nashville, TN – (June 2, 2011) – Women Rock For The Cure TM (WRFTC)is proud to announce the inaugural Young Survivors Retreat for women between the ages of 18-40 years who have been diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Five percent of all breast cancers diagnosed in the U.S. each year occur in women under 40. Since breast cancer at this early age is rare, this makes a diagnosis especially shocking and challenging for young women. At a time in life when all of your friends are starting families and launching their careers, issues of treatment, recovery and survivorship suddenly take top priority in your world. Finding peers that you can relate to helps in the healing process.

“When I was diagnosed at 27, it was very difficult to find someone to talk to who was my age and had gone through the same thing,” shares WRFTC Co-President Jensen (Sussman) Arrowsmith. “Even though I had amazing support from my family and friends … I still felt alone. My friends were getting married and I was getting chemotherapy. For me, meeting other young women facing cancer made all the difference. I hope that this retreat brings the survivors the same feeling of peace, camaraderie and strength that it did for me.”

Deer Run Lodge - Site of the WRFTC Young Survivors Retreat

The Young Survivors Retreat will be held September 23-25, 2011, at the Deer Run Retreat Center located outside of Nashville, TN (3845 Perkins Road Thompson’s Station, TN 37179). The weekend-long retreat will give attendees the opportunity to connect with other young survivors, share their stories and discuss age-related challenges surrounded by Deer Run’s beautiful, serene setting. The weekend activities will include sessions on art, relaxation, nutrition, fertility, relationships, and beauty tips. Thanks to the success of the WRFTC fundraising events (Opry Goes Pink, Pink Trash Ball) and WRFTC supporters, the retreat is free for all attendees including any travel expenses to and from Nashville. Since 2007 Women Rock for the Cure has partnered with the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Greater Nashville Affiliate to help raise money and find new ways to increase breast cancer awareness locally. New in 2011 WRFTC will be hosting a Young Survivors Retreat for Women under 35 who have or are going through Breast Cancer. Our hope is to provide a place where attendees can connect to other young survivors while attending sessions on nutrition, fertility, relationships, and beauty tips while going through or recovering from treatment.

The Judds Help Opry Go Pink, Prep For Tour

The Judds were on hand at The Grand Ole Opry Friday night (10/15), helping Women Rock For The Cure and Susan G. Komen for the Cure turn the Opry Pink. This was the second annual “Opry Goes Pink” show, to raise awareness for the fight against breast cancer. The Judds “flipped the switch” turning the Opry’s signature barn backdrop pink and then kicked into their current single “I Will Stand by You.”

The mother-daughter duo are busy this month visiting national media in Nashville and New York to promote their anticipated final tour, The Judds: The Last Encore, which kicks off the day after Thanksgiving. Dates are scheduled through mid December. Among their upcoming appearances are Good Morning America (10/21), Today (10/21), Crook & Chase, and features in People Country and CMA Close-Up.

Wynonna and Naomi Judd will ride the Santa Train on Nov. 20, making 14 stops in Kentucky, Virginia and Tennessee to deliver 15 tons of toys – more than $300,000 worth – to thousands of residents who live along the route.
